Up until this arrest, it really was the year for priests in Waterbury.
A Connecticut priest with a reputation of caring for the poor has shocked his parishioners after being accused of faking a terminal illness to cover up the alleged theft of $1 million from his diocese. The Rev. Kevin Gray, a 26-year veteran of the Hartford Catholic Diocese, is being investigated by the Waterbury, Conn., police department for allegedly taking money over a seven-year period from a savings fund established for the Sacred Heart parish, money that was to be used for building renovations and church debt, according to the police.

Interesting that the church will call the police about financial malfeasance but they won't lift the damned phone when it comes to abuse of under age children.

I was forced to watch a 30 second Listerine commercial to see a 24-second clip that amounted to nothing more than a slideshow of a church exterior?
I have known Father Gray for nearly all his time in Waterbury. That he was a caring, Christ-like pastor is true. That he sinned seems apparent; haven't we all? Instead of trying to poke holes in the Church 24/7, how about you all take time to pray for a man who must have been, and still certainly is, undergoing the worst turmoil of the soul?
KNOW THIS and do not sublimate it through willful ignorance and narcissism: My parish and every parish in Vermont, through the Church, has been made well aware of child abuse indications; appropriate behavior and limits with children; reporting procedures and updates for those working with children are mandatory.
Don't be so quick to yell "MONEY!" The parish in Waterbury desperately needed that money, so stop picturing every church anomaly as greed; this is about need, justice, and forgiveness. I assume, though you vaunt your heretical status, your narcissism and hatred are ruled by some degree of compassion.
